I. Basic Definitions
Needle valves are a special form of throttle valves. Their core function is to precisely adjust the position of the needle-shaped valve core to change the flow area of the valve port, thereby achieving precise control of the flow rate of fluids (liquids or gases). They can also be used for pressure regulation in low-pressure systems.
Ii. Structure and Working Principle
1. Typical structure
Valve core: It is slender conical (needle-tip) in shape, and its end forms a precisely fitted throttling clearance with the valve seat.
Regulating mechanism: The valve core is driven up and down by a handwheel, screw or electric device to change the opening degree of the throttle port.
Valve body: It is equipped with a fluid channel inside, which cooperates with the valve core to form a sealed cavity.
2. Working Principle
When the regulating handwheel is rotated, the needle-shaped valve core moves axially:
When the valve core moves downward, the throttle port decreases, the fluid resistance increases, and the flow rate decreases.
When the valve core moves upward, the throttle port increases and the flow rate increases.
By taking advantage of the fine regulation characteristics of the conical valve core, stepless and precise control of the flow rate can be achieved, and it can even operate stably at very low flow rates.
