    Resistance position sensor

     

    1.Resistance position sensors, sometimes called potentiometers or position converters, include linear and rotary types. Originally developed for military applications, they are widely used to adjust knobs on radios, televisions or control panels.

     

    2.The potentiometer is a passive device and does not need additional power supply and circuit support. The potentiometer has two working modes: voltage division and variable resistance. When used as a variable resistor, its resistance changes with the position of the sliding end, and the fixed end and the sliding end are used when working. When used in voltage divider, it is the most common use of potentiometer.

     

    3.The output reference voltage is obtained by dividing the resistance element. The physical position of the sliding end can be obtained according to the voltage division theory of the series resistor and the reverse output voltage. It includes an operational amplifier circuit and a potentiometer position sensor, and the output voltage reflects the position of the sliding end.

     

    4.In many cases, potentiometers are used as position sensors. It has two fixed ends and a sliding end, and the sliding end is connected with the outside through a mechanical transmission shaft. The motion model can be linear or rotational. When the sliding end moves, it will change the resistance between the two fixed ends. The output voltage is usually proportional to the displacement of the sliding end, or the resistance of the sliding end and the fixed end is proportional to the displacement.

     

    5.Potentiometers come in many sizes and types, and the two most commonly used are rotary and linear. When used as a position sensor, its sliding end is usually connected with the detected object. When working, a fixed reference voltage needs to be applied to the two fixed ends of the potentiometer. Voltage is output from the sliding terminal and the fixed terminal, that is, the output voltage is related to the position of the sliding terminal.
