The three-port cartridge balancing valve is a adjustable valve (pilot oil-assisted opening). It allows the free flow of oil from port 2(inlet) to port 1(load port) : the reverse flow of oil is stopped
Move (mouth 1 to mouth 2) until the pilot pressure, which is inversely proportional to the load pressure, acts on mouth 3 before opening. The port adjustment of the balance valve is the result of the double action of the load pressure and the pilot pressure, which forms an “inverse pilot pressure ratio” : the light load requires the opening pilot pressure to be larger than the load, improving stability and better motion control.
The motion control function of the balance valve is reflected in maintaining a positive load pressure at the reversing valve even when the load is overridden. When the balance valve is closed, its leakage is very small (close to zero). Smooth unnotched seats and fine debris in the oil (even very “clean” oil) form a seal within minutes of the valve closing to eliminate leaks. The dynamic load deceleration control can be realized by selecting suitable reversing valve and circuit design. At the same time, the overflow function of port 1(load port) to port 2(inlet) is integrated to prevent overpressure and overheating of the load. The three-port balance valve with countercurrent check valve is suitable for operation under constant load, in which case the valve pressure should be set at 1.3 times the constant load pressure (port 3 pressure is not counted). Balanced cartridge valve performance is as follows:
The leakage is small at cutoff. At the set value of 85%, the nominal maximum leakage is 5 drops /min (0.4cc/min).
The hysteresis of the relief valve is also small when the flow rate changes greatly.

Adjustable screws can be used to reduce the set pressure: when the pilot pressure is insufficient, the emergency manual release screw can be used.
